Paper Lace was a British pop band that rose to fame in the 1970s. The band's most well-known song is "The Night Chicago Died," which reached the number one spot on the Billboard Hot 100 chart in 1974. The song also topped the charts in the UK, Canada, and Australia, solidifying Paper Lace's international success.


Formed in Nottingham, England in 1969, Paper Lace was originally known as Music Box. The band underwent several lineup changes before finding success with their unique blend of pop and rock music. In addition to "The Night Chicago Died," Paper Lace had other hits such as "Billy, Don't Be a Hero" and "The Black-Eyed Boys." Although they disbanded in the late 1970s, Paper Lace's music continues to be remembered and enjoyed by fans of 70s pop music.
