Patty Duke, born Anna Marie Duke on December 14, 1946, was an American actress and singer. She began her career as a child actor, making her Broadway debut at the age of 12. Duke gained widespread recognition for her portrayal of Helen Keller in the 1962 film "The Miracle Worker," a role that earned her an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress at the age of 16, making her the youngest person at that time to win an Oscar.


In addition to her film work, Patty Duke also achieved success on television, starring in the popular sitcom "The Patty Duke Show" from 1963 to 1966. Throughout her career, she received numerous accolades, including three Emmy Awards and two Golden Globe Awards. Duke was also a passionate advocate for mental health awareness, having been diagnosed with bipolar disorder. She wrote several books on her struggles with mental illness and became a vocal spokesperson for mental health issues. Patty Duke passed away on March 29, 2016, leaving behind a legacy as a talented and influential performer.
