The band was led by organist and vocalist Paul Revere Dick, who took the stage name Paul Revere, and featured vocalist Mark Lindsay as the lead singer. The group was known for their upbeat and energetic performances, which often included matching Revolutionary War-era costumes. They were part of the 1960s garage rock and pop rock movement and achieved significant commercial success with hits like "Kicks," "Hungry," and "Indian Reservation."
Paul Revere & The Raiders were one of the most popular bands of the mid-1960s, known for their catchy songs and high-energy performances. They were inducted into the Oregon Music Hall of Fame in 2007. The band continued to perform and tour for several decades, with various lineup changes, before officially disbanding in the early 2000s.
