Artist Bio:
Pete Fountain was an American jazz clarinetist born on July 3, 1930, in New Orleans, Louisiana. He was known for his traditional New Orleans jazz style and was a prominent figure in the Dixieland jazz revival of the 1950s and 1960s. Fountain gained national fame through his appearances on television, particularly as a regular guest on "The Lawrence Welk Show" and "The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson."


Fountain released over 100 albums throughout his career and was a popular performer in New Orleans, where he had his own nightclub in the French Quarter. He was also a regular participant in Mardi Gras celebrations and jazz festivals. Pete Fountain was inducted into the Louisiana Music Hall of Fame in 2007, recognizing his significant contributions to the world of jazz music. He passed away on August 6, 2016, at the age of 86.
