Pete Townshend is a British musician, singer, and songwriter best known as the guitarist and primary songwriter of the rock band The Who. Born on May 19, 1945, in London, England, Townshend is considered one of the most influential guitarists in the history of rock music. He is known for his energetic stage presence and his innovative guitar techniques, including his iconic windmill arm motion while playing.


Townshend is also recognized for his songwriting skills, penning many of The Who's most popular and enduring hits, such as "My Generation," "Baba O'Riley," and "Won't Get Fooled Again." In addition to his work with The Who, Townshend has released several solo albums and has also worked as a producer and author. Throughout his career, Townshend has been inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame both as a member of The Who and as a solo artist, solidifying his status as a music legend.
