Peter Gabriel is an English musician, singer, and songwriter who gained fame as the original lead singer of the progressive rock band Genesis. He was born on February 13, 1950, in Surrey, England. Gabriel left Genesis in 1975 to pursue a successful solo career, releasing several critically acclaimed albums such as "So" and "Us". He is known for his distinctive voice and innovative music videos, including the groundbreaking "Sledgehammer". Gabriel's music is characterized by its eclectic style, incorporating elements of rock, pop, world music, and electronic music.


In addition to his music career, Peter Gabriel is also a prominent human rights activist. He co-founded the human rights organization Witness in 1992, which uses video and technology to expose human rights abuses around the world. Gabriel was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as a member of Genesis in 2010 and has received numerous awards for his contributions to music and activism.
