Peter, Paul & Mary was a folk music trio formed in the early 1960s. The group consisted of Peter Yarrow, Noel Paul Stookey, and Mary Travers. They were known for their smooth harmonies and socially conscious lyrics that often addressed political and social issues of the time, including the civil rights movement and the anti-war movement. Peter, Paul & Mary were instrumental in popularizing folk music during the 1960s and were one of the most successful folk groups of the era.


The trio's debut album, released in 1962, included their hit single "Lemon Tree" and their iconic rendition of "If I Had a Hammer." They went on to release numerous albums and singles throughout the 1960s and 1970s, earning several Grammy Awards and nominations along the way. Peter, Paul & Mary continued to perform together until Mary Travers' passing in 2009. Their music remains influential in the folk music genre and their legacy continues to inspire musicians and fans alike.
