She was born Phoebe Ann Laub on July 17, 1950, in New York City, and adopted the stage name Phoebe Snow early in her career. She rose to fame in the 1970s with her self-titled debut album, which included the hit single "Poetry Man." Snow was praised for her distinctive voice, which combined elements of jazz, blues, and folk music. Throughout her career, she released a total of 16 albums, showcasing her versatile musical talents.


In addition to her solo work, Phoebe Snow also collaborated with various artists, including Paul Simon, Linda Ronstadt, and Jackson Browne. Snow's career was marked by critical acclaim and commercial success, earning her multiple Grammy Award nominations.
