Phoebe Snow was an American singer, songwriter, and guitarist, born on July 17, 1950, in New York City. She rose to fame in the 1970s with her self-titled debut album, which included the hit single "Poetry Man." Known for her distinctive voice and eclectic musical style, Snow blended elements of jazz, blues, and folk in her music. Throughout her career, she released a total of five studio albums, with her most recent being "Natural Wonder" in 2003.


Despite her success in the music industry, Snow took a hiatus from her career in the 1980s to care for her daughter, Valerie, who was born with severe brain damage. Snow made a comeback in the 1990s and continued to perform and record music until her passing on April 26, 2011. Throughout her career, Snow received critical acclaim for her soulful voice and unique musical style, leaving behind a legacy as a talented and influential artist.
