Pilot was a Scottish pop rock band that achieved success in the 1970s. The band was formed in 1973 by David Paton and Billy Lyall, who had previously been members of the Bay City Rollers. Pilot is best known for their hit single "Magic," which reached the top ten in the UK and US charts in 1975. The song was written by Paton and produced by Alan Parsons, who also worked with the band on their self-titled debut album released the same year.

After the success of "Magic," Pilot released several more albums, but they were unable to replicate the same level of commercial success. The band eventually disbanded in 1977, with members pursuing solo careers in music. Despite their relatively short-lived career, Pilot remains a notable band in the history of Scottish pop music.
