Artist Bio:
Playa is a R&B group consisting of members Smokey, Static Major, and Black. They were active in the 1990s and early 2000s and were signed to Def Jam Records. Playa gained recognition for their smooth harmonies and soulful sound, often compared to that of popular R&B groups like Jodeci and Boyz II Men. They released their debut album, "Cheers 2 U," in 1998, which featured hit singles such as "Don't Stop the Music" and "Cheers 2 U."
Static Major, one of the members of Playa, went on to become a successful songwriter and producer, collaborating with artists like Aaliyah, Ginuwine, and Lil Wayne. Tragically, Static Major passed away in 2008, leaving behind a legacy of influential music. Despite their relatively short-lived career as a group, Playa's contributions to the R&B genre continue to be celebrated by fans of 90s and early 2000s music.
