Pop Smoke, born Bashar Barakah Jackson, was a rising star in the Brooklyn drill music scene. His deep, gravelly voice and aggressive delivery set him apart from his peers, and he quickly gained attention with his breakout hit "Welcome to the Party." Tragically, Pop Smoke's promising career was cut short when he was fatally shot during a home invasion in February 2020, just weeks after the release of his mixtape "Meet the Woo 2."
Despite his untimely death, Pop Smoke's music continued to resonate with fans, and his posthumous album "Shoot for the Stars, Aim for the Moon" topped the Billboard 200 chart. "Yea Yea," one of the tracks from the album, showcased his signature drill sound and reached #43 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, solidifying his legacy as one of the most influential artists in the genre.
