Artist Bio:
Preston Epps was an American musician and percussionist, born on July 19, 1930, in Oakland, California. He gained fame in the late 1950s for his instrumental hit single "Bongo Rock," released in 1959. The song reached number 14 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart and is considered one of the early influential tracks in the development of the surf rock genre.

Epps was known for his skills on the bongos and other percussion instruments, and his music often combined elements of rock and roll with Latin rhythms. Despite his initial success with "Bongo Rock," Epps did not achieve the same level of commercial success with his subsequent releases. However, he continued to perform and record music throughout his career, contributing to the popularity of instrumental rock music in the late 1950s and early 1960s. Preston Epps passed away on May 9, 2019, leaving behind a legacy as a pioneering figure in the world of instrumental rock music.
