The Pretenders are a British-American rock band formed in Hereford, England, in 1978. The band's original lineup consisted of lead vocalist and rhythm guitarist Chrissie Hynde, lead guitarist James Honeyman-Scott, bassist Pete Farndon, and drummer Martin Chambers. They achieved commercial success with their self-titled debut album in 1980, which included hits such as "Brass in Pocket" and "Stop Your Sobbing."

The Pretenders have released a total of eleven studio albums, with Chrissie Hynde being the only constant member throughout their various lineup changes.
