Prince And The Revolution was an American music group formed in 1983 by the legendary musician Prince. The group consisted of Prince on lead vocals and various instruments, along with Wendy Melvoin, Lisa Coleman, Brownmark, and Bobby Z. The Revolution is best known for their collaboration with Prince on his sixth studio album, "Purple Rain," which served as the soundtrack to the 1984 film of the same name. The album was a critical and commercial success, earning the group two Grammy Awards and an Academy Award for Best Original Song Score.
The group disbanded in 1986, but they reunited briefly in 2000 for a number of live performances. Prince And The Revolution left a lasting impact on the music industry, with their innovative sound and energetic performances contributing to Prince's status as one of the greatest musicians of all time.
