Prince And The Revolution was an American music group formed in 1983 by the legendary musician Prince. The group consisted of Prince on lead vocals and guitar, as well as Wendy Melvoin on guitar, Lisa Coleman on keyboards, Brown Mark on bass, Bobby Z. on drums, and Matt Fink on keyboards. The collaboration with The Revolution marked a significant period in Prince's career, with the group contributing to some of his most critically acclaimed albums, including "Purple Rain" and "Around the World in a Day".
One of their most iconic works is the soundtrack album for the 1984 film "Purple Rain", which won Prince an Academy Award for Best Original Song Score. The album featured hits like "When Doves Cry" and the title track "Purple Rain", showcasing the musical prowess and innovative sound that Prince And The Revolution were known for. The group disbanded in 1986, but their music continues to be celebrated for its blend of rock, funk, R&B, and pop influences.
