Quicksilver Messenger Service was an American psychedelic rock band formed in San Francisco in 1965. The band's lineup consisted of Dino Valenti, John Cipollina, David Freiberg, Greg Elmore, and Gary Duncan among others. They were known for their improvisational style and blending of rock, folk, and blues music.
Quicksilver Messenger Service gained popularity in the late 1960s and released several albums including their self-titled debut album in 1968 and "Happy Trails" in 1969. They were considered one of the prominent bands in the San Francisco music scene during the era of the Summer of Love. Despite several lineup changes over the years, Quicksilver Messenger Service continued to perform and record music until the early 1970s.
