R. Dean Taylor is a Canadian singer, songwriter, and record producer born on May 11, 1939, in Toronto, Ontario. He found success as a recording artist in the 1960s and 1970s, primarily in the genres of soul and pop music. Taylor is perhaps best known for his hit single "Indiana Wants Me," which was released in 1970 and reached the top 5 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.
In addition to his own recording career, R. Dean Taylor also wrote and produced songs for other artists, including The Supremes and The Four Tops. He was signed to the Motown label early in his career and later worked with various other record labels. Taylor's music continues to be celebrated by fans of classic soul and pop music.
