Rainbow was a British rock band formed in 1975 by former Deep Purple guitarist Ritchie Blackmore. The band achieved significant commercial success in the late 1970s and early 1980s with their hard rock and heavy metal sound. Their debut album, "Ritchie Blackmore's Rainbow," was released in 1975 and featured the hit single "Man on the Silver Mountain." Rainbow went through numerous lineup changes over the years, with notable members including Ronnie James Dio, Cozy Powell, and Joe Lynn Turner.


Rainbow released a total of eight studio albums before disbanding in 1984. They reunited briefly in the 1990s and early 2000s for various tours and albums. The band's music is characterized by Blackmore's virtuosic guitar playing and Dio's powerful vocals. Rainbow is considered a pioneering band in the heavy metal genre and has influenced countless acts in the years since their formation.
