Artist Bio:
Ramsey Lewis is an American jazz pianist and composer who was born on May 27, 1935, in Chicago, Illinois. He began playing the piano at a young age and quickly developed a passion for jazz music. Lewis first gained prominence in the late 1950s and early 1960s with his trio, which included bassist Eldee Young and drummer Redd Holt. The group achieved commercial success with their hit instrumental version of "The In Crowd" in 1965, which reached the top five on the pop and R&B charts.


Throughout his career, Ramsey Lewis has recorded over 80 albums and won three Grammy Awards for Best Jazz Performance. He is known for his innovative blend of jazz, R&B, and pop music, as well as his dynamic and energetic live performances. Lewis continues to perform and record music, collaborating with various artists and exploring new musical directions while maintaining his signature style.
