The Ramsey Lewis Trio was a jazz group formed in 1956 by pianist Ramsey Lewis. The trio's original lineup included bassist Eldee Young and drummer Redd Holt. They gained fame in the late 1950s and 1960s for their unique blend of jazz, blues, and gospel music. The group achieved commercial success with their 1965 hit album "The In Crowd," which reached the top five on the pop charts and won a Grammy Award for Best Jazz Performance.
Throughout their career, the Ramsey Lewis Trio released over 20 albums and earned a reputation for their energetic live performances and innovative approach to jazz music. The group disbanded in the mid-1970s, but Ramsey Lewis continued to have a successful solo career as a jazz pianist and composer, earning multiple Grammy Awards and establishing himself as a jazz legend.
