Artist Bio:
Ramsey Lewis is an American jazz pianist and composer who was born on May 27, 1935, in Chicago, Illinois. He first gained fame in the late 1950s and 1960s as the leader of the Ramsey Lewis Trio, alongside bassist Eldee Young and drummer Redd Holt. The trio achieved commercial success with their instrumental jazz recordings, including the hit songs "The In Crowd" and "Hang On Sloopy."


Lewis has won three Grammy Awards and has been highly regarded for his innovative approach to jazz music, blending elements of traditional jazz with soul, funk, and R&B influences. Over the course of his career, he has released over 80 albums and continues to perform and record music to this day. Ramsey Lewis has also been recognized for his contributions to music education and was inducted into the International Jazz Hall of Fame in 2018.
