Rare Earth is an American rock band that was formed in 1969 in Detroit, Michigan. The band was one of the first acts signed to Motown's new rock label, Rare Earth Records. They are best known for their hit single "Get Ready," a cover of the classic Motown song originally recorded by The Temptations. The song became a top 5 hit on the Billboard Hot 100 chart in 1970. Rare Earth was also known for their energetic live performances and their fusion of rock, soul, and funk music styles.
In addition to "Get Ready," Rare Earth had other successful singles including "I Just Want to Celebrate" and "Hey Big Brother." The band released a total of 11 studio albums between 1969 and 1978. Rare Earth continues to perform and tour, with a rotating lineup of musicians, bringing their unique blend of rock and soul music to audiences around the world.
