Jimmy Lewis was an American bassist and songwriter who worked closely with Ray Charles in the 1960s. Lewis played bass on several of Charles' albums, including "Modern Sounds in Country and Western Music" and "Ingredients in a Recipe for Soul." He also co-wrote songs with Charles, such as "I Don't Need No Doctor." Lewis' contributions to Charles' music helped shape the sound of soul music during that era.
