Throughout his career, Ray Charles won numerous awards, including 17 Grammy Awards and a Lifetime Achievement Grammy. He was also inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and the Rhythm and Blues Music Hall of Fame. Charles was a pioneer in the music industry, breaking down racial barriers and becoming one of the first African American musicians to gain mainstream success. He passed away on June 10, 2004, but his music continues to inspire artists and audiences around the world.
