He gained fame as the lead guitarist and primary songwriter for the band Raydio, which had hits such as "Jack and Jill" and "You Can't Change That." Parker Jr. is best known for his iconic song "Ghostbusters," the theme song for the 1984 blockbuster film of the same name, for which he received an Academy Award nomination for Best Original Song.
In addition to his solo career, Ray Parker Jr. has also collaborated with other artists such as Barry White, Chaka Khan, and New Edition. He has won numerous awards throughout his career, including a Grammy Award for Best Pop Instrumental Performance for his song "The Other Woman."
