R.B. Greaves, born Ronald Bertram Aloysius Greaves III on November 28, 1943, was an American singer who found success in the late 1960s and early 1970s. He was the nephew of legendary singer Sam Cooke and began his music career performing in clubs and as a backing vocalist. In addition to "Take a Letter Maria," Greaves had other minor hits, including "Always Something There to Remind Me." He continued to record music throughout the 1970s, but never achieved the same level of success as with his breakthrough hit. Greaves passed away on September 27, 2012, leaving behind a legacy of soulful music.
