Ready for the World is an American R&B and funk band formed in Flint, Michigan in 1982. The group consists of five members, including Melvin Riley, Gordon Strozier, Gregory Potts, Willie Triplett, and John Eaton. They are best known for their 1985 hit single "Oh Sheila," which reached the top of the Billboard R&B chart and peaked at number one on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.


Ready for the World released their self-titled debut album in 1985, which also contained other popular singles such as "Digital Display" and "Love You Down." The band's music is characterized by a blend of electronic funk, R&B, and pop sounds. Throughout their career, Ready for the World has continued to release music and tour, maintaining a dedicated fan base within the R&B and funk music community.
