R.E.M. was an American rock band formed in Athens, Georgia in 1980. The band's original lineup consisted of lead vocalist Michael Stipe, guitarist Peter Buck, bassist Mike Mills, and drummer Bill Berry. R.E.M. is known for their jangly guitar sound, introspective lyrics, and unique vocal style of Michael Stipe. They were pioneers of the alternative rock genre and achieved mainstream success in the 1980s and 1990s.


Throughout their career, R.E.M. released critically acclaimed albums such as "Murmur," "Out of Time," and "Automatic for the People." They are best known for hits like "Losing My Religion," "Everybody Hurts," and "Man on the Moon." R.E.M. disbanded in 2011 after over three decades of making music together, leaving behind a lasting legacy in the music industry.
