R.E.M. is often credited with helping to popularize alternative rock in the 1980s and 1990s. The band's hits include "Losing My Religion," "Everybody Hurts," and "Man on the Moon." R.E.M. was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2007, and they disbanded in 2011 after over three decades together.
