Artist Bio:
R.E.M. is an American rock band formed in 1980 in Athens, Georgia. The band's original lineup consisted of singer Michael Stipe, guitarist Peter Buck, bassist Mike Mills, and drummer Bill Berry. R.E.M. is known for their unique sound, which combines elements of jangle pop, alternative rock, and folk rock. They gained popularity in the 1980s with albums like "Murmur" and "Reckoning," and achieved mainstream success in the 1990s with hits like "Losing My Religion" and "Everybody Hurts."


R.E.M. has released 15 studio albums and has won three Grammy Awards. They were one of the pioneers of the alternative rock genre and are considered one of the most influential bands of their era. In 2007, R.E.M. was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. The band announced their breakup in 2011, after more than 30 years together, leaving behind a lasting legacy in the music industry.
