Artist Bio:
R.E.M. was an American rock band formed in Athens, Georgia, in 1980. The band was composed of lead vocalist Michael Stipe, guitarist Peter Buck, bassist Mike Mills, and drummer Bill Berry. R.E.M. is known for their alternative rock sound, poetic lyrics, and political and environmental activism. They were pioneers of the alternative rock genre and became one of the most popular and influential bands of the 1980s and 1990s.


R.E.M. released 15 studio albums throughout their career, with their most well-known hits including "Losing My Religion," "Everybody Hurts," and "Man on the Moon." The band achieved commercial success and critical acclaim, winning three Grammy Awards and being inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2007. After over three decades of making music together, R.E.M. announced their disbandment in 2011.
