The band's name comes from a flatbed truck brand, REO Speed Wagon, which the band found appealing due to its unusual name. The original lineup consisted of members including Kevin Cronin, Neal Doughty, Alan Gratzer, and others, with Kevin Cronin serving as the lead vocalist.


REO Speedwagon gained popularity in the 1970s and 1980s with hits such as "Keep On Loving You," "Can't Fight This Feeling," and "Take It on the Run." They are known for their arena rock sound and power ballads. The band has released several successful albums, including "Hi Infidelity," which reached #1 on the Billboard 200 chart in 1981.
