REO Speedwagon is an American rock band that originally formed in 1967 in Champaign, Illinois. The band's name, REO Speedwagon, was inspired by a flatbed truck brand. The band's lineup has gone through several changes over the years, but its most successful period was in the late 1970s and early 1980s.
They achieved mainstream success with their ninth studio album, "Hi Infidelity," released in 1980. The album featured hit singles such as "Keep On Loving You" and "Take It on the Run," which both reached the top 10 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. REO Speedwagon has sold over 40 million records worldwide and has been nominated for several awards, including a Grammy nomination for Best Rock Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocal in 1981. They continue to tour and perform, maintaining a dedicated fan base.
