Rex Allen (1920-1999) was an American film and television actor, singer, and songwriter. He was born in Arizona and began his career in the entertainment industry as a singer on a radio show in Chicago. Allen later moved to Hollywood and signed a contract with Republic Pictures, where he starred in numerous Western films and television shows in the 1950s and 1960s. He was known for his smooth singing voice and starred in several musical Westerns, earning him the nickname "The Arizona Cowboy."
In addition to his acting career, Rex Allen recorded many albums and had several hit songs, including "Crying in the Chapel." He also provided the voice of the narrator for many Disney nature films, such as "The Vanishing Prairie" and "Charlie, the Lonesome Cougar." Allen's contributions to the entertainment industry, both on screen and in music, have solidified his legacy as a beloved figure in Western cinema and music history.
