Artist Bio:
Ric Ocasek, born Richard Theodore Otcasek on March 23, 1944, was an American singer, songwriter, and record producer. He was best known as the lead vocalist, rhythm guitarist, and songwriter for the rock band The Cars. Ocasek co-founded The Cars in the 1970s and played a significant role in the band's success with hits like "Just What I Needed," "My Best Friend's Girl," and "Drive."


In addition to his work with The Cars, Ocasek also had a successful solo career, releasing several albums. He was known for his distinctive voice and quirky lyrics, which contributed to The Cars' unique sound. Ocasek was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as a member of The Cars in 2018. Tragically, he passed away on September 15, 2019, at the age of 75.
