Richard Marx is an American singer, songwriter, and musician who rose to fame in the late 1980s and 1990s. He was born on September 16, 1963, in Chicago, Illinois. Marx has released a number of successful albums throughout his career, including his self-titled debut album in 1987 which spawned four top 5 singles on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. He is known for his soft rock and adult contemporary sound, with hits such as "Right Here Waiting," "Hold On to the Nights," and "Now and Forever."


In addition to his solo music career, Marx has also written and produced songs for other artists, including Luther Vandross, NSYNC, and Keith Urban. He has won several awards for his songwriting, including a Grammy Award for Song of the Year in 2004 for co-writing Luther Vandross' "Dance with My Father." Marx continues to tour and release new music, showcasing his enduring popularity in the music industry.
