Richie Furay is an American musician and singer-songwriter who was born on May 9, 1944, in Yellow Springs, Ohio. He is best known for being a founding member of the influential folk rock band Buffalo Springfield, along with Neil Young and Stephen Stills. Furay was the rhythm guitarist and vocalist for the band, which was active from 1966 to 1968.
After Buffalo Springfield disbanded, Furay went on to co-found the country rock band Poco in 1968. He played a key role in shaping the band's sound and was a primary songwriter for many of their songs. Furay also had a successful solo career, releasing several albums throughout the 1970s and 1980s. He continues to perform and record music to this day, blending elements of folk, rock, and country in his music.
