Artist Bio:
Ritchie Valens, born Richard Steven Valenzuela on May 13, 1941, was a Mexican-American singer, songwriter, and guitarist who rose to fame in the late 1950s. Valens is best known for his hit songs "La Bamba" and "Donna," which helped him become one of the pioneers of the Chicano rock movement. Despite his short-lived career, Valens made a significant impact on the music industry and inspired many future Latino musicians.

Tragically, Valens' life was cut short at the young age of 17 in a plane crash on February 3, 1959, along with fellow musicians Buddy Holly and The Big Bopper. This event, famously known as "The Day the Music Died," left a lasting impact on the music world and Valens' legacy. Despite his brief career, Ritchie Valens' influence can still be felt in the music industry today, and he is remembered as a talented artist who helped bring Latin music to mainstream audiences.
