Robert Palmer was an English singer, songwriter, and musician who was born on January 19, 1949, in Batley, Yorkshire, England. He was known for his distinctive voice and eclectic mix of musical styles, including rock, pop, reggae, and R&B. Palmer first gained fame in the 1970s as the lead singer of the rock band Vinegar Joe before launching a successful solo career.
Palmer achieved international success with hits such as "Addicted to Love," "Simply Irresistible," and "I Didn't Mean to Turn You On." He won two Grammy Awards for Best Male Rock Vocal Performance for his songs "Addicted to Love" and "Simply Irresistible." Palmer's music videos, featuring his slick style and backing band of female models, became iconic in the 1980s. He continued to record and perform until his untimely death on September 26, 2003, at the age of 54.
