Rochell and the Candles were an American doo-wop group formed in Los Angeles in the late 1950s. The group consisted of lead singer Rochell Henderson, who was known for his smooth and soulful vocals, and background vocalists The Candles. They gained popularity with their hit song "Once Upon a Time," released in 1961.


In 1962, Johnny Wyatt joined the group, and they changed their name to Rochell and the Candles with Johnny Wyatt. Wyatt was a talented singer and songwriter known for his contributions to the doo-wop and R&B music scenes. The group released several singles together, including "Tell Me" and "Does Your Mama Know About Me." Their music was characterized by tight harmonies, emotional delivery, and catchy melodies.
