Rod Bernard was an American singer and songwriter, born on August 12, 1940, in Opelousas, Louisiana. He is best known for his contributions to the swamp pop music genre, which combines elements of rhythm and blues, country, and Cajun music. Bernard achieved success in the late 1950s and early 1960s with hits like "This Should Go On Forever" and "Colinda." He was also a member of the band The Shondells, along with Warren Storm and Skip Stewart.


In addition to his music career, Rod Bernard was also a radio personality, hosting a popular morning show on KSIG in Crowley, Louisiana. He continued to perform and record music throughout his life, keeping the swamp pop tradition alive. Bernard passed away on July 12, 2020, leaving behind a legacy of influential music in the Louisiana music scene.
