Roger Williams (born Louis Jacob Weertz) was an American pianist and composer, known for his popular piano arrangements and performances of popular music. He was born on October 1, 1924, in Omaha, Nebraska, and began playing the piano at a young age. Williams achieved great success with his hit single "Autumn Leaves," which topped the charts in 1955 and earned him a Grammy Award for Best Selling Popular Instrumental. Throughout his career, Williams released over 100 albums and had numerous hit singles, showcasing his virtuoso piano skills and unique arrangements of popular songs.
In addition to his musical career, Williams was also a philanthropist, donating his time and talent to various charitable causes. He was inducted into the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 1960 and continued to perform and record music until his passing on October 8, 2011, at the age of 87. Williams left behind a lasting legacy as a talented pianist and composer who brought joy to audiences around the world with his beautiful music.
