Formed in Detroit in 1964, the group originally consisted of Banks, along with William "Wee Gee" Howard, Elbert Wilkins, Willie Ford, Larry Demps, and James Mack Brown. The Dramatics were known for their smooth harmonies and soulful sound, gaining popularity in the 1970s with hits such as "Whatcha See Is Whatcha Get" and "In the Rain."
Ron Banks and The Dramatics continued to release music throughout the 1970s and 1980s, with Banks serving as the lead vocalist for many of their most beloved songs. The group's music has been influential in the R&B and soul genres, and they are considered one of the iconic vocal groups of that era. Ron Banks passed away in 2010, but The Dramatics continue to perform and record music, keeping his legacy alive.
