Rose Royce is an American R&B group formed in Los Angeles in the 1970s. The group was originally known as Total Concept Unlimited before changing their name to Rose Royce, inspired by the luxury car brand Rolls-Royce. Rose Royce is best known for their hit songs such as "Car Wash," which was the title track for the 1976 film of the same name, and "Wishing on a Star."
The group's lineup has changed over the years, but some of the original members included lead singer Gwen Dickey, saxophonist Kenny Copeland, and drummer Henry Garner. Rose Royce achieved commercial success in the 1970s and 1980s with their blend of soul, funk, and disco music. They continue to perform and tour, keeping their classic songs alive for fans of their nostalgic sound.
