Roy Orbison was an American singer, songwriter, and musician who was born on April 23, 1936, in Vernon, Texas. He was known for his distinctive voice, emotional ballads, and dark, operatic rock music. Orbison's music career spanned over four decades, during which he produced hits like "Oh, Pretty Woman," "Crying," and "Only the Lonely."


Orbison was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1987 and posthumously inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame in 1989. He was also a part of the supergroup the Traveling Wilburys, alongside Bob Dylan, George Harrison, Tom Petty, and Jeff Lynne. Roy Orbison passed away on December 6, 1988, at the age of 52, leaving behind a lasting legacy as one of the most influential and talented musicians in the history of rock and roll.
