Salt-N-Pepa is an American hip hop group formed in 1985. The group consists of Cheryl James ("Salt"), Sandra Denton ("Pepa"), and Deidra Roper ("DJ Spinderella"). They are considered one of the first all-female rap groups and are known for their empowering lyrics and feminist messages in their music. Salt-N-Pepa achieved mainstream success in the late 1980s and early 1990s with hits like "Push It," "Shoop," and "Whatta Man."
Throughout their career, Salt-N-Pepa have won several awards, including a Grammy Award for Best Rap Performance by a Duo or Group for their hit single "None of Your Business." They have also been recognized for their contributions to music and pop culture, being inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2021.
