Salt-N-Pepa is a pioneering hip-hop trio consisting of Cheryl "Salt" James, Sandra "Pepa" Denton, and Deidra Roper, aka DJ Spinderella. Formed in 1985, Salt-N-Pepa became one of the first all-female rap groups to achieve major success in the male-dominated genre. Known for their bold and empowering lyrics, the group released several hit singles in the late 1980s and 1990s, including "Push It" and "Shoop." En Vogue, on the other hand, is an R&B vocal group formed in 1989, known for their harmonious vocals and soulful sound. By collaborating on "Whatta Man," Salt-N-Pepa and En Vogue brought together two powerhouse female groups from different genres, creating a memorable and influential track that resonated with audiences.
