Sam Cooke was an American singer, songwriter, and entrepreneur who was born on January 22, 1931, in Clarksdale, Mississippi. He is considered one of the pioneers of soul music and is known for his smooth and emotive voice. Cooke began his music career as a member of the gospel group The Soul Stirrers before transitioning to a successful solo career in the late 1950s.
Throughout his career, Cooke released numerous hit songs, including "You Send Me," "A Change Is Gonna Come," and "Cupid." He was also a trailblazer in the music industry, establishing his own record label and publishing company. Tragically, Cooke's life was cut short when he was shot and killed at the age of 33 in December 1964. Despite his untimely death, Sam Cooke's music continues to be celebrated and his influence on soul and popular music remains significant to this day.
