Artist Bio:
Sam Cooke was an influential American singer-songwriter who was born on January 22, 1931, in Clarksdale, Mississippi. He began his music career as a member of the gospel group the Soul Stirrers before transitioning to secular music. Cooke is often referred to as the "King of Soul" for his smooth vocals and innovative blending of gospel and R&B music styles.

Throughout his career, Cooke achieved numerous hits on the Billboard charts, including songs like "You Send Me," "Chain Gang," and "Twistin' the Night Away." He was also a trailblazer in the music industry, establishing his own record label and publishing company. Tragically, Sam Cooke's life was cut short when he was shot and killed under mysterious circumstances on December 11, 1964, at the age of 33. Despite his untimely death, Cooke's influence on soul music continues to be celebrated, and he was posthumously inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1986.
